05. Design explorations
Based on the first 2 design directions, we explored a bunch of ideas. For the content creation side, the ideas are created based on 2 main uses cases: new and edit. Below are some of the ideas.
I then tested these concepts with our internal content creator users. They were very excited about having a single tool for creating, editing, and commenting on content. We followed that feedback to flesh out the design details for this solution that combines the classroom section of the platform (which is student-facing) with the content composer tools section (which is creator-facing) into one unified environment. We believed this would greatly reduce the friction that content creators experience when they consume, preview, and create content.
Based on the third design direction, we mapped out a new defined pipeline of tools based on each major role's tasks. This requires us to build a lot new services and makes sure that all the data flows automatically through this cascading workflow.
